Against falsehood

One cannot uphold truth
And be true to one’s self
If one remains concerned
About the opinions of others.

Safety over danger
Faith over skepticism

As complexity is to simplicity
Or a man is to a gentleman
Or a woman is to a lady
Or lust is to love
Or success is to joy
Or power is to virtue
Or falsehood is to truth
Or the wind is to the breeze
The more enlightened of passions
Are also the ones that most elevate us.
