An Open Mind

An open mind is such a rare event:
To bear - the brunt of changing truths, unbent
Upheld beliefs till disillusionment
Foul acts repeating on the human stage
And fate’s surprises and exiles of age - 
Nor lose direction, judge, or lash with rage
And pay the price of freedom, oft unfair
Accept us as we are, not who, nor where;
Indeed an open mind is something rare.
